I've been experimenting with only cash for the grocery budget. Man oh man, I am spending a lot less $$ for food! It's amazing what having only a limited amount of $$ along will do for you. It's encouraged me to plan meals (even breakfast and lunch) and we use up EVERYTHING, so I'm throwing much less food away, too.
ReplyDeleteThe first week, I was $8 under budget. The second week, $1.25! Phew!
I also have been taking a small amount off the top each each to 'save up' for when we need bulk items, like a case of soymilk or 20lb bag of brown rice from Costco.
